Our Commitment

Storykeepers Community CIC recognises that caring for our communities also means caring for the environment.

We are committed to reducing our environmental impact wherever reasonably possible and making sustainable choices in the way we plan, deliver and promote our projects. We believe that preserving stories for future generations should go hand in hand with protecting the world they will inherit.

Our Environmental Principles

Storykeepers Community CIC will strive to:

  • Reduce waste wherever possible.

  • Make responsible purchasing decisions.

  • Use resources efficiently.

  • Encourage digital communication where appropriate.

  • Support environmentally responsible printing and publishing.

  • Continually review our practices to reduce our environmental impact.

Sustainable Publishing

As many of our projects result in professionally published books, we are committed to making thoughtful choices throughout the publishing process.

Where possible, we will:

  • Work with UK-based printers to reduce transportation emissions.

  • Print appropriate quantities to minimise waste.

  • Choose responsibly sourced paper where available.

  • Recycle proof copies and unused materials whenever possible.

  • Reduce unnecessary packaging.

Reducing Waste

Storykeepers Community CIC aims to:

  • Minimise the use of single-use plastics.

  • Recycle paper, cardboard and other recyclable materials.

  • Reuse display materials and exhibition equipment where practical.

  • Encourage digital sharing of information where suitable.

Travel

We recognise that travel forms part of many of our community projects.

Where practical, we will:

  • Plan journeys efficiently.

  • Combine visits where possible.

  • Encourage remote meetings when appropriate.

  • Work with local partners to reduce unnecessary travel.

Events and Workshops

When delivering workshops and community events we will seek to:

  • Reuse resources wherever possible.

  • Avoid unnecessary printed materials.

  • Encourage responsible waste disposal.

  • Consider the environmental impact of venues and suppliers where practical.

Working with Suppliers

We aim to work with suppliers and partners who share our commitment to responsible environmental practices.

Environmental considerations will form part of purchasing decisions where this is practical and proportionate.

Continuous Improvement

We recognise that environmental responsibility is an ongoing journey.

As Storykeepers Community CIC grows, we will continue to review our practices and seek opportunities to improve our environmental performance.

Policy Review

This policy will be reviewed annually and updated as our organisation develops.

Our Commitment

At Storykeepers, we believe every generation has a responsibility to leave something meaningful behind.

Through our projects, we preserve stories, celebrate communities and create lasting legacies. We are equally committed to making thoughtful choices that help protect the environment, ensuring that the stories we preserve today can be enjoyed by future generations in a healthier, more sustainable world.
